The project "The Clapper" was developed as a part of the course From Automation to Absurdity, taught by Prof. Dr. Lasse Scherffig and Eduard Paal and offered by the Köln International School of Design (KISD) in the winter semester of 2020/21.
Considering the utopia of a future where everything will be automated, a technological paradise, the proposal of the project was to automate everyday activities, but questioning the way it is automated, the idea of automating it and its purpose.
By learning the basics of how to work with code and material, programming and electronics, and the relationship of code to the things it animates, the process aimed to take the idea of automation to a hilarious and even pointless extreme.
Finally, a video was developed to "sell" and advertise the product and its purpose.
